🎧 AUDIOBOOK REVIEW 🎧 Lights Out

“I don’t need a brat kink on top of my newly awakened praise kink. The two are supposed to cancel each other out, not act as amplifies.”

Navessa, please 😩

I had to sit with this for a bit before writing this review, because my mind was blown.

Thanks to the algorithm, Aly’s timeline is filled with shirtless men wearing ghosts masks and wielding knives. She dreams about them doing wicked things to her body.

Josh is one of these men with a popular page where women fawn over his fake blood covered body, but no woman has been able to match his gangsta. That changes when Aly sends him a DM about one of her fantasies. She has no idea the dark deeds they’re about to get into.

New kink unlocked, okay. I learned something about myself while listening to this book 🀣 If you haven’t read this yet. Hell, even if you’ve already read it, please listen to the audiobook. Between their hilarious internal monologues and Josh’s voice changes to mask his identity, I was thoroughly entertained.

On a serious note, these two experienced a lot of trauma at young ages. Aly is grieving the death of her parents. Josh is struggling to accept that he’s nothing like his psychotic father. They’re both dealing with guilt and over compensate by stretching themselves thin for other people. A vanilla sexlife won’t do to help them blow off steam, especially after getting themselves in a sticky situation with the law and the Italian mafia.

Aly craves danger and couldn’t have found a better mate in Josh, who pushes her to sexual limits but is also such a goofy sweetheart. The man makes stalking palatable. I feel horrible even typing this, but Aly not knowing who’s under the mask and the kinds of boundary pushing he’s capable of is kinda hot. Apart from being sexually compatible, Aly and Josh are great for each other emotionally. He’s overprotective and she needs a protector, someone to take charge. For a badass, she’s quite submissive. And Josh needs to feel chosen; for someone to ensure him that his quirks don’t make him a sociopath.

This is one of the best audiobooks ever. Elena Wolfe and Jacob Morgan make this an experience. It’s a duet narration, and these two have great chemistry. Jacob’s voice. *bites knuckle* Talk about an eargasm. Morally grey has never sounded sexier. I’ve listened to chapter 25 an obscene number of times. I’m never deleting this title. πŸ˜‚

I love that they start the audiobook by listing all the trigger warnings. It’s a lot.

Child abuse, Death, Rape, Sexual assault, Sexual content, Sexual violence, Blood, Medical content, Mass/school shootings, Cannibalism, Stalking, and Murder

But the humor balances it out. This is a must read.
